Already?

We stopped in Kingsburg at Viking RV Park. Dogs were happy to get out. Gary rapidly became less than happy. The levelers won't work. Just got it back on Wednesday from replacing one of them. They worked at home yesterday. Called the repair shop and politely threw a hissy fit. Of course, nobody is available until Monday, but we made it clear we expect some real help this time. I guess maybe these levelers are made to just work one day, then break again? Definitely a bit frustrating.

On the good side, the drive was beautiful. It was 85 degrees at 5 p.m as we wandered Kingsburg's downtown. Found a cute little Scandinavian shop that we will see from the inside tomorrow a.m. before we leave for Palm Desert.

So I leave you with a bit of rocking and rolling as the dogs wander around inside without levelers. Should be entertaining (or else we will be seasick!)

We're on our way!

Feb. 29, 2008--first day of the biggest trip yet--we are heading to Thousand Palms (near Palm Springs) to see my Mom, sister and brother-in-law, then on to Arizona.  Tonight we will stay in Kingsburg, CA.  The dogs are happy to be with us--they love the RV.  We are hauling a tow car for the first time.  We got a nice, used Honda CR-V, 2004 with only 12,000 miles on it.  I much prefer the rear door on this model to the new ones.  Since the CR-V is supposed to be my car when it is not being towed, I pulled rank and talked Gary into a used car for a change.  The nicest part is that 6'5" Gary fits in it with head room to spare!

We're a little nervous this trip.  We think we got a lemon in our 2007 Fleetwood Southwind. Our RV has been in the repair shop 201 days and we have only owned it 324 days.  Our first year will be up April 6.  We keep hoping they've finally fixed everything that could possibly need fixing, but something new keeps happening.  So far so good, but we've only been gone 3 hours.  Gary loves driving it and it is just the right size for the dogs and us (except the shower, but at least it is tall enough for Gary).

The next thing I need to do is learn how to add photos.  In the meantime if you are curious,  you can find out how we are doing by checking this blog.  I'll try to post as we go to each new location.
