Heading South for a change!

As the beautiful rain started, we left Roseville and headed toward Arizona. Since there have been 5 more break-ins in our neighborhood since ours last June, we tried something different this time. We hauled all our stuff to the RV still in storage so it wouldn't be obvious that we were leaving. It worked fairly well, except that I left some salmon in the frig we planned to have for dinner tonight. Fortunately, I thought of calling Patricia and asking her to take it home and eat it so the frig wouldn't smell awful by the time we get home.

Before we left and just as the rain was starting, I picked all the sugar snap peas and lettuce I could from our garden. Gary will eat yummy stuff until it runs out.

As we headed south, I checked our log book and we discovered we haven't been this direction since March 2008! I guess it was high time, even though we are missing a wonderful rainstorm as we head for the sun.

We passed lots of blooming orchards.

Then we arrived at our first stop--our favorite place in Bakersfield. It is called Orange Grove RV Park because it was built in an orange grove. They removed every other tree for RV space and the trees still standing produce very yummy oranges.

They let you pick as many as you want, so Gary had a great time picking enough to last him the whole trip.

Tom and I stayed there one night when we were on our way home from the SW. Lovely place. No oranges when we were there.
